erinmfritz
What do you use to color the smelly jellies. I have used both soap based color and candle color (just a wee bit). Either way I do it, the jelly gets discolored after a while because of the FO. Turns darker. I do use distilled water to make them. Any suggestions? Love2Scent
We use food coloring and only have trouble with the vanilla based fo's discoloring.HTH
puddin1970
I also use food coloring. They never fade or change in color. Right now I found a set of the fall colors at our local dollar store - they have the nicest colors!! Plus you can always mix a few colors to create new colors too
Brenda (OH)
I use bath & body liquid color - works good. As stated, vanilla based colors will discolor. Darker oils are kinda stuff too, Blueberry Cobbler comes to mind.
Alajane
Oh, Puddin, thanks for mentioning that. I had no idea they had fall food colors! I can't wait to check that out!Jane
puddin1970
Sure - plus they are such nice colors - they are a deep green, a mauve color, brown, black and I think a yellow - but its a real deep yellow. I didnt know they had them either.. then one day at either the dollar tree, big lots, or ollies I found them - I shop all those places alot lol. Alajane
Among the three, I have only hope of it being at Dollar Tree since we don't have either of the other places here!! We had a wonderful Big Lots that I checked out every week, but they closed last year.
botanica
These things have been a little difficult for me to color. My jasmine turned the purple brownish. I can't get a red for my christmas scent--it turned out orange. I'd like any hints too. I have been using food coloring...
puddin1970
I take and mix half the amount of water first then I add the food coloring - then the rest of the water. I have also colored the jelly first before adding water at all.. but that kinda made some of it darker than others in spots. Try doing half the water then the coloring and see if that helps. I have heard that some people use liquid candle coloring - but that is expensive and I find this cheaper and it turns out good for me.
