soycrazy
What is the best way to infuse vanilla beans? Should I grind them up in the chopper then put them in a tea bag or put them in whole?
CBE
I slice mine open to expose the seeds/beans inside, then I infuse in vodka ... bean pod and all. But since you're posting in the soap section...lol I assume you want to infuse oil, not vodka (silly me!).
soycrazy
LOL yes I'm talking about the oil want to put it in soap Thanks on the tip for the extract though I plan on doing that too. Maybe it will work just as good in oil too.

3bees~1flower
just my opinion, but i would save your vanilla infused oil for leave on products. i have tried using it in soap and the scent does come thru...it's just too light to survive sap. but, as far as how to infuse, you can use very low heat double boiler style. LaVida
Has anyone tried the oil infusion?
mamazele
I've infused them in oil and I agree that you should save the oil for other uses besides soap because the scent is very fragile and gets destroyed by the high temp of cp soap making. the best way to infuse the oil is to cut down the middle of each seed pod, pop them in the oil and infuse in the sun for 4 weeks or so. If you want to speed up the process you can put them in the oil that you have on the stove on a very low setting so the oil is just a bit warm and that will kick start the process. Hope this helps!
