Guest jurnalynn
could you tell us what the base contains already so we can go from there?Laura
CareBear
generally you can add fragrance and color. lotions & whipped butters themselves should be moisturizing, and are typically formulated to need nothing additional beyond these things.though some EOs may be considered good for the skin, I don't know much about that.the manufacturer should be able to provide guidance. tamilea
When adding anything to a base you must be careful about the preservatives. The base should have already been formulated with the right amount and adding more can ruin that formulation and cause nasty lil' beasties to grow...I purchased both a lotion base and a whipped butter from Ky candle supply. Guest Ox_B_love
Okay so your saying dont alter a base tooo much because it has the right amount of ingredients in it already? So you cant add things to make it thicker or creamier?
Sister Kya
So you cant add things to make it thicker or creamier?Ask your supplier. Some bases are formulated to allow for the addition of some items (typically water) beyond color and scent, but most are not.Lotion bases are not M&P soap bases, they rely on a balance of preservatives. Adding a little of this and that will usually result in a big mess.
