ladysj
Okay I want to know if LS is suppose to be like this. I've got LS that I made back when they had the tutorial. I've added fragrance to a few bottles but OMG the soap smells like GREASE very strong & overpowering. Is this natural I didn't seem to notice it smelling like that when I first made it. It stinks to high heaven. What could have possibly caused this to happen? I followed everything step by step & it was nice & clear.
CareBear
I do think my liquid soap stinks. I don't make it any longer.
ladysj
ROFLMAO well there has to be a way to make it not stink or the wouldn't be selling it.
soycrazy
My unscented soap doesn't smell good either, but my hubby likes it. I just use it on my hair, but I would like to try some other oils. I heard sunflower is smelly.
Carriegsxr6
hmmm, it must be the high sunflower. I was going to make some too someday, but maybe i will investigate another recipe first.
ladysj
I think I'm going to try making it again with a different recipe. This stuff is really bad. I think I read some where else that sunflower could do that. I'm looking through Failor's book now.
asheebeans
I've heard people have had success with the Coco-Loco recipe of Failor's. Perhaps try that one? I, too, did the LS from the tutorial and mine ended up with little globs in it no matter what I did--PLUS it smelled off to me. So I pitched it. I have a tutorial from when I went to the Ohio Soaper's Gathering and I am hoping that one will work out for me better. I'm going to give it a whirl sometime. It is on my to-do list, along with Cream Soap!
SpaceGirl
I made LS following the recipe on the Dish (it was the Coco Loco recipe, I believe). Mine does not smell off at all, so maybe it was the sunflower, as someone else said.ETA: I made it a few months ago and it's still doing fine

I was thinking of trying the coconut-jojoba fusion one also, but not sure what soft oil to use.
SpaceGirl
The recipe I used just called for olive oil, coconut oil (I used 76 degree), cocoa butter, KOH and water.
soycrazy
I thought olive oil would of smelled too that's great I'll have to try that out
thecandlespastore
The one I make with sunflower does not stink, but the one I made with Rice Bran oil. Let me tell you, I had to throw it out!! Talk about gross.
