Guest jurnalynn
ok i'm trying to formulate a pine tar soap and i know i want to use it at 20%..........but here the problem when i put it throught the lye calculator it brings the soap qualities down and i need to know if it gives a true reading on the ins and other qualities because of the pine tar having 0 on these qualities and is misleading?oh one more thing can i make this in the crockpot?thank youLaura
smarshall465
That's a lot of pine tar. It runs really fast so have your molds ready.
CareBear
I use pine tar at 20%, but only CP (not crockpot). Yes it moves fast but such is life.I'm sorry but it's such a unique beast you really need to try it to see what it does in soap.
8-GRAN-ONES
I use 15% in my recipe..But as the others say it moves fast.Have everything ready, and move quickly..
LovelyLathers
I use 15 % also in a basic recipe. I put it in a pan of hot water to let it get nice and warm, it will be more fluid then. Use a large disposable plastic cup to measure it out and a plastic spoon because it sure is very gooey and sticky. It makes clean up so much easier. Do not use the Sb to add it in. Firefly
I've made it and use 20% in my recipe and it worked out fine. It does trace fast but have everything ready and you will be prepared for it. Also I didn't stick blend at all which gave me a bit more time. My soap turned out great. LovelyLathers
I have only done it CP also. I add it at a very light trace.
