Cow Ice Candle

Recommended Posts

I started experimenting with making ice candles this week. This is my second attempt at one. I was trying for a 'cow' candle; white with black patches on it. Came out a little fugly but it sure was fun making it. I scented it peppermint and chocolate.

I turned it around so you could see how the ice changed the 'cow' pattern on the candle.

I think they turned out great. I've been wanting to try the ice candles again since i've not made one since I was a kid. Longer than I care to mention ROFLMAO.

You did a great job on those I like the way they turned out. :wink2:

Those look fab! but one question .... how do you make those? The ice candles I have read about making are poured into a metal mould filled with crushed ice, then when you unmould all the water from the melted ice runs out and you are left with a pretty candle filled with holes where the ice was ....... how did you get yours black and white? I don't understand LOL.

I make them the same way. Fill my mold with ice, pour the molten wax in and let cool, drain the water out.

But in this case I did a second pour to fill in the gaps left by the ice. I poke relief holes as usual so I don't have any gaps around the wick.
