TexasBrat
At what point is best to trim and bevel soaps? Right after un-molding or weeks old??
LovelyLathers
I do mine when they are about 2 weeks old. Mine are too soft right out of the mold.
mystical_angel1219
I don't bother even touching mine till at least 3 weeks into the cure. If I do them too soon, I have nothing but a mess.
TexasBrat
That is what I was thinking. They are to delicate. Thanks.
MarieJeanette
I guess I'm the black sheep. I do mine as soon as they are unmolded. I soap with a 33% lye solution, though, so my soaps (even my Castile-types) are never too soft right out of the mold. I also use a potato peeler to bevel with. I don't know if that makes a difference or not in terms of messiness when compared to a bonafide soap beveler, but it's always worked nice and neat for me.MarieJeanette
eugenia
I bevel and trim after 6 weeks, when I box them. It's never too late.e
CareBear
The longer I wait the fewer bits stick to the bar... so older, harder bars are tidier.
