CandleMama6
Hi All,I have been reading the posts on this message board for several months and have learned so much. But.....now I need your help!! My brother has a cabin and a skunk got inside. It DID NOT spray, but you can still smell that lovely skunk smell. It is not terribly strong, but you can still smell that it was there. It is only two bedrooms and a bath that have the smell. I have the Odor Eliminator FO and am going to take him a few of those to try and help with the smell. I am hoping, maybe more like praying, that some of you seasoned candle makers might be able to help. Thanks!!Michelle
sharig
I have found in my experience: I have inside dogs that insist on getting sprayed time and time again in the spring time; that Lemon or Citrus scents will help with the smell.HTH,Shari
PurpleHippie
It's not a candle but one of the best things I have used for this type of odor has been vinegar. Get several jars(baby food jars and Mason jars work great)and fill them with vinegar. Place them all around the cabin but make sure to keep them away from pets and small children. Add more jars if needed. Over a day or two they will start to absorb the odor.
DebbieTX
hee hee! We had a skunk get into our crawl space a couple of years ago. While he didn't spray, he just stunk up the place to high heaven. I searched all over the net and found that if you used Peppermint EO, that it masks the smell until it airs out. I mixed it with cyclomethicone or linen spray and sprayed all over the place. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked and within a few days, the smell was completely gone. HTHI would have never thought of Peppermint. If that's the answer, all you gotta do is put some of Bert's Candy Cane in the pour pot and Presto! That's probably the strongest I've come across. I love it and so do my customers!I will make sure to be ordering Candy Cane come March for my wonderful four legged friends. It amazes me how many times they get sprayed, over and over again. They never learn!Shari
CandleMama6
Thank you so much to those that replied. I didn't know about the vinegar so I will make sure he tries that. I will also have to make up a couple citrus scents and peppermint for him to try.I, luckily, have never had to deal with that problem. He just finished his cabin so we were really glad that it did not spray. But man....it sure does stink still!!Thanks again!! I really appreciate the suggestions. jrogers397
not exactually what you are looking for but moth balls in the crawl space and attic and around the foundation will keep critters away in the first place janis
