deb12c
How much should I add to a 5 pound batch? Does it depend on the ingredients and when should I add it? At trace?
LovelyLathers
I add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per lb using water dispersible td to my lye water.
Hibiscus
Lovelylathers: do you get a chalky soap when you used that much? I've read it can get chalky when you over do it and that it changes the lather. Did you have any of these problems?

Roxanne
I use up to 1-1/2 teaspoons per pound of oil, also added to the hot lye water, and I don't get chalky soap or diminished lather.

But I have had a 40% olive oil soap come out a bit chalky with it so I did cut that down to 1/4 teas. That soap had poor lather due to the oo and probably the td did not help it either. jbren
I pre-mixed my TD with hot water (very concentrated) and keep it in the fridge in a plastic squirt bottle. When I use it, which is not often, I just pop the bottle in the microwave for a few seconds, shake it up and use it.A little goes a long way.
