Oceangazer1
Hi All!!I'm testing the CD's in my smooth sided jelly jars with perfect blend wax from KY. I'm finding that the CD 8's(no trimming) have 1/4" mp and a tad of hang up even after 4+ hrs. The flame is bright, but there isn't alot of throw. Now with the 10's they burn faster, have almost 1/2" mp, no hangup and throw well. Do you wick so the candle burns very slow, or faster, yet the throw is better. I'm very worried that my customers will be unhappy as I have usually wicked on the hotter side. I know they burn faster toward the bottom, yet I don't like this slow of a burn. I have tested zincs and want to stay away from them. I have LX's but I like CD's better so far. Any advise?
Stella1952
Wick for the bottom half of the container. A slow burn is desirable and safer than a torch!
Oceangazer1
Thank you Stella, I knew that would be my answer. I will always start with the 8's then in this jar. I appreciate your post.
Oceangazer1
Hi Stella,I am continuing to test this JJ with the CD8 and it takes over 4hrs to get a full mp and there is hardly any throw. It's about 1/3 full. I'm not too happy with the 8's. Any suggestions? What should I do if there isn't an inbetween wick?I hate testing. My customers will hate my candles if they can't smell them anymore.:embarasse
Sharon in KY
Since it's a paraffin/soy blend why don't you add a little soft paraffin to your mix to get an easier burn with the CD8?
