Candleman67
I have been working with The IG4630 I don't have the scent throw I want. Not very good cold throw either. I just ordered some IG4786 Hopefully this will be better. Any suggestions on the best wax for scent throw? I am using 1 oz of FO per LB of wax, could I possibly use a little more? My melt pools are good. Every thing tests fine just the scent throw.I make container candles.
topofmurrayhill
Really, any of those paraffin blends can work well if you nail it right. A lot of things affect the quality of the scent throw. Different people get different results.Having said that, Comfort Blend (IGI 4627) is supposed to be a little better. J-50 (IGI 4636) also tends to get good reviews for scent throw. With the 4627 you could also try 1 1/4 oz FO and see if that helps you. The 4786 will need a repour. I haven't worked with it much but people who do seem to like it. You might want to stick with 1 oz pp.All these waxes burn differently so you might have to work on the wicking.
Candleman67
yeah I can't wick up my 9oz container anymore I get to much flicker. I will try this next wax and see what happens. I"m using 9oz hex jars with a small opening so I don't want to wick to big. Right now I have a C70 in and seems to be doing well as far as melt pool and all. Thanks
