cybersix
:DSince the end of october my candles are in a shop, among other candlemakers... One has a pretty big name! Well I went to visit a new shop opened in town, they don't sell only candles but have lots. I found this company's candles sitting on the shelf. And I realized they were... not good. Very nice packaging, appealing, but wicks were dangerously off-center (some was almost touching the glass), and containers seemed to have wax residues on the inside... and very noticeable repouring signs..So I felt better now that I know my candles can look good even if they are close to one "big name"! doris
I don't do much in the way of candles, certainly not container candles, but since being on this forum, when I notice candles in a store, I always have to look. It's amazing the number of off-centre wicks I see.
cybersix
what I don't understand is "why"?Why can't they be made in the right way?I also saw a pillar (many pillars.....) it was upside down, sink hole not filled and the wick was on the side... that means a sure fire... I still don't get it. In one case I doubt those were handmade candles (my competitor probably is not all "handcrafting"), what is that preevent a machine made candle to have a centered wicks?? Jane42
Hi Jane, how are you? And your sister?Don't lose faith, after three years of selling (trying to selling lol) someone noticed me, so there's hope for everyone! Thanks, I hope so!You will have to PM me the name of the shop your candles are in - and where it is located. If my sister lives or vacations anywhere nearby, I will have to tell her to go look at Sabrina's BEAUTIFUL candles!! I am going to be sending her a few of mine for Christmas. I sent her a candle warmer last year...didn't realize it was going a cause a problem due to the electric being different or I would have searched and sent her the adaptor too! gingerinarkansas
Some people just want to make a product and sell it for quick money. They don't care if it's correctly made or safe for the consumer, they just want the cash. Ginger

CiaoJaneJane, you're right.. the adaptor!! When we talked about that I totally forgot about electricity.. and the adaptors usually cost a lot, if the melter has a very low wattage maybe you can find something cheap. But remember to check out the wattage!!I'm going to PM you the address, but it's in germany, not in italy! Thanks for your kind words!Hugs

GingerOk this I can understand from a "no name" candlemaker, I saw many crappy and ugly candles without brand or website.. they are kind of anonymous.. but from a big name (not so famous as many brands in your country, but it's a big company) I'd expect something better, customers can decide of your destiny in business.. but after all, if they are still there I guess I already had my answer.. people don't know a thing about a good candle.I had to explain what's soothing to the lady who's retailing my candles in her shop. She asked everything about candles to me. She printed my advices and tips from my website to give to her customers. She didn't ask this big company or the other big company she's retailing. She asked to me! This makes me wonder about the background of companies in business. If I only could make it I know my candles are better. I'm just too small to jump in competition. I hope I'll have more chances!!
