ladysj
I'm having a heck of a time getting these mixed up to where I don't have little specs in my soaps. I read where you guys are mixing it with glycerin and putting in bottles. My question is how much oxide do you add to how much glycerin? Say I'm going to make up some 1 ounce bottles. How much oxide would I add to that amount of glycerin? Or how do you do it? TIA for any help.
BLSoaps
I tried this, and ended up with a solid mass of oxide at the bottom of my bottles, and mostly clear glycerin at the top. It completely separated for me. I just pull aside a small amount of oil, and blend it with that right before I add it to my soap. I haven't had specks in my soaps in quite a while using this method.Oh, if the colorant is being used in the whole batch, I add the oxide to my oils before the lye, and blend it several times with a stick blender. It works well for me.
SOAPFREAK
I save back a little oil also and make sure the oil is warm. I use these little craft sticks you can buy in the craft depart. at Wal-Mart. As I mix, I smash the oxide against the side of the dixie cup. You have to mix really well. Soapgirl
I do what soapfreak does, but I buy the larger craft sticks in the big box at michaels. I use clear glass bowls for mixing my oxides so I can look on the bottom of the bowls to make sure there's no clumps.
GrandmaArial
I use clear glass ramekins and mix with glycerin about a half hour to an hour before I start my soap.
mystical_angel1219
The best method that works for me is 5:1 glycerin to oxide.Warm the glycerin just a touch, and mix well. I keep them in dropper bottles I bought pretty cheap from The Sage.
