Darbla
The same colors I was using in IGI 4794 are much weaker in Green Leaf 70/30. I'm using liquid dyes from Peak. What do you use?Darbla
ladysj
I use the dye chips. I've not tried liquid dyes in it.
Pam W
I use liquid dyes from Peaks and GL - if I want say a dark, dark burgandy I just add a touch of black - NOT DROPS - just a touch with a toothpick till I get the color I want. (but I don't make a lot of containers)
larrycat
I use GL's concentrated liquid dyes. The web site recommends a maximum usage per lb of wax - 30-40 drops. Personally, I don't have to use quite that much and have no problems with coloring my wax! Good luck with your candles.
Darbla
The web site recommends a maximum usage per lb of wax - 30-40 drops..OMG! Are you serious? You think that applies to other dyes than theirs? I practice restraint with dye because of the fuel smell when you use too much. I've been putting 10, tops! I did get a sort of neat deep purple with 5 drops maroon, 5 drops black in my pomegranate candles. I'm going to refer to it as 'Forbidden Pomegranate' though that's not the FO I used. That just sort of makes more sense with the deep purple.Darbla
snow
I've used liquid dye and blocks. But I've noticed it seems harder to get a nice color than with J50. I just switched to 70/30, it also seems to me, that the first 10# slab I had was nicer than this new batch. Anyone think that? The first slab I had no wet spots at all, and now with this batch I am getting a few. Any opinions on this?
Trish
The fact that the wax is 70% soy will affect the outcome of the color. Soy tends to not be as vibrant, IMO.

If you know her mythology you'll understand the connection.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persephone
Tizimarezie
I use dye chips and just started using liquid dye, also. I've found that I actually need to use LESS (chips and/or liquid) in the GL 70/30 than what I use to use in EZsoy.
