Darbla
I just poured some votives in 'Santa's Pipe', and I used 5 drops coffee brown and 5 drops black per pound. The best I could think is a very deep brown like the color of tobacco. What would you have colored it?Also I poured 'Vanilla Bean Noel', and aiming for a very pale creamy tint I used 2 drops per pound of that coffee brown. Does that seem reasonable?Darbla
Scented
Black and brown on Santa's Pipe lol, maybe a touch of gray for some ash. VBN -- brown and cream. JM2C
Darbla
Cool, Scented. I didn't mention what kind of wax I use, and I've found that DOES make a difference with colors. I'm using a blend of Green Leaf 70/30 and IGI 4794 for votives (about half each). I've found that the 70/30 doesn't take color as well as the 4794 does, so I have to use darker colors and/or more black.I just checked them. The brown/black in 'Santa's Pipe' isn't anywhere near as dark as I wanted, even with all that black, but the creamy color of 'Vanilla Bean Noel' is just about perfect.Darbla
beechcreekcandles
HelloFor Santa's Pipe I would have tried to match a color for the pipe more than the tobacco itself? Such as perhaps a walnut tone with a hint of Ivory? JMHO
Scented
For fun, what makes you think Santa doesn't have a black pipe to match his boots and belt?

kimmeroo
I have never heard of santa's pipe! What does it smell like? Darbla, how did the coloring turn out? I live near Canada so I need to do some googling for new places to buy my fo's. kimmeroo
Darbla
Kimmeroo, mine is from www.sweetcakes.com but there may be others. It smells just like a pipe being smoked. A couple days ago when I was pouring that and 'Vanilla Bean Noel' (from Tennessee Candle Supplies) my house smelled amazing! The color on my 'Santa's Pipe' votives is fugly, and I know it's because of that Green Leaf 70/30. I may try all black and see what that looks like.Darbla
