cleanglow
Ok, I know I shouldn't have but I was desperate. When Farmhouse ran out, I had to get some 50/50 and I got it from C&S. The problem I'm having is with soot. I've got the wicking right, fo load is what I normally use, but the soot is UNBELIEVEABLE. I don't EVER remember anything like this with the Farmhouse 50/50 blend. Can all of my fellow Farmhouse 50/50 users refresh my memory and let me know if I'm forgetting soot with that blend? I just can't believe that another 50/50 blend would have such different results.... at least not when the wicking is pretty much the same.I've learned a big lesson. Stock up on the good stuff!Lot's of candles down the drain and about 25 lbs of wax, too. Jenn
Sharon in PA
Jenn, was it the 1275 from C&S? Both of these waxes behaved basically the same for me...which wicks do you use?
cleanglow
Yep, it is the 1275. I use cd 10's and 12's depending on the fo. I just don't recall getting a ton of soot with the Farmhouse 50/50. Do you get a lot?
Sharon in PA
It depends on the containers I use...I don't recall getting any more or less soot when i switched over to the Farmhouse, but I switched because I do question whether we can count on the 1275 being consistant at C&S.... I was one of the ones who had to contend with a bad batch of the 1275 last yr...:rolleyes2 I get more soot with the 8 oz masons when i burn more than like 4 hrs. which pisses me off, but I get a great, clean burn with the wide mouth half pint JJ's w/ the Farmhouse... I just hope the 1275 hasn't changed, and who knows, maybe it did BTW, I use the same wicks as you, so that's not it, unless they're from a different supplier than you usually use... did you change containers, by chance? I swear , even the smallest change can make all the difference... it can be so frustrating.
cleanglow
lol, I just pm'ed you, too.I haven't changed anything but the wax. I get my CD's from BCN and I'm using the same containers that I've been using for over a year. Very starnge and frustrating. I feel your pain. I was part of the C&S bad batch last year, too. That's why I'm kicking myself now
FarmHouse
Hi Everyone, I just want to clarify.....my 50/50 is NOT the same as C&S 1275. I have this blend made for me. I know different ones post that it is a 1275, I don't know where this info came from, but, it is my own blend. Thanks, Sherri
cleanglow
Sherri,I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my posts in thinking that was the case. I know for a fact they are different just by using them both. I want it to be understood that I prefer Farmhouse 50/50 and only remember getting great results after testing it.My problems right now are with the 1275 blend from C&S. I just thought since they were both 50/50 blends, even though different, they would still have similar qualities. That isn't so.
cleanglow
Here is a picture of my nightmare. This is the 50/50 from C&S, cd 10, fo 8%, after a 3 hour burn. This wasn't the initial burn. That was bad, too, but I wiped it clean and this is the newest result.I've never seen anything like it.Kind of ironic with the name "Cleanglow" don't ya think?
