c3 sooo soft in containers

Recommended Posts

I have a jar candle with C3 and it seems to be wicked nicely and all, with a reasonable melt pool, but I've discovered the wax under the melt pool is really soft - ALMOST semi-liquid all the way down and so my wick is not held stable in its vertical position even when half the candle is left.

Is this a function of a soft wax like C3 or am I over-wicking or something?

It's characteristic of soy wax to have that thick mucky layer beneath the melt pool. If your wick isn't stable it might be worth considering whether you're overwicked. Other considerations are what kind of wick it is (some are more rigid than others) and whether it's snugly secured to the wick tab. Maybe even what kind of coating is on it.
