Melt Pool Question

Recommended Posts

I thought about reasonable answers to this question, but I think it's best to say there is no exact answer. The rim of unmelted wax around the melt pool will vary in height and thickness according to the size of the candle, how it's been designed and how it's been burned.

Assuming this is about wicking, let me just say you can't reliably judge a wick by measuring the melt pool and you shouldn't normally judge it based on one burn. The way to test a wick in a pillar is to burn it at least several times (let's say a minimum of 4 to 6) for 3 hours at a time. You can judge it according to the size of the flames and how the candle is burning hown.
