Guest LightofDawn
Another thought would be the Band Boosters. The Band Boosters at our High School selects the fund raisers they do. Many times the individual organizations are raising funds for a specific event. This year the Marching Band is raising money so the kids can march at Disney World. All the monies raised from the fund raisers are benefiting each individual kids account. This is a big motivator for the kids because it is directly benefiting them.Dawn
jackbenimble
Your request will be sent to the VP of Ways and Means. That is what I am. Now, I am not sure about other districts but I know here our kids can only be in ONE major fundraiser a year that they actually do the selling. And we pick the ones that offer a 50% return. So, if you can't offer that much you pretty much won't get accepted for a school wide fundraiser. Also, many many schools have already chosen their fundraiser last year for this year. Meaning, we will be getting together in the Spring to chose which fundraiser we want for the school year 2008/2009.However, you can always ask for your information to be delivered to individual class levels, like 3rd grade, 4th grade etc. And also for Middle Schools you can have it forwarded to the clubs, band, etc. They don't mind taking a bit of a lower percentage however, not much from the 50% mark. That is the kicker when you propose fundraisers to schools. You normally won't even get looked at if you can't offer at least 50%Good Luck!!AngiYes I know this is an older thread ;-)My 10oz candles are priced at $14 and sell very well. I am curious how other candlemakers make money splitting the profits 50% with the fundraising groups? It hardly leaves me making any profits. Do you make this up in volume? A friend of mine wants to possibly do a fundraiser for his orchestra classes in the fall so I'm thinking this will be a smaller total job and a good place to get my feet wet. I'm just really curious how this all works. Any advise is welcome and appreciated :-)
HorseScentS
Okay, Violet, I can't stand it anymore. When I see your ID I immediately think Violent Sex ...otic candles. What? Then my mind reads it right. Hope your web site doesn't say the same thing! oops, sorry....LOLExactly! I thought her business name was "Violet Sexotic Candles" until I figured out it's "Violet's Exotic Candles." Then I Googled it and only 4 search results came up and one of them was a porn sight with naked girly pics all over it. So, I know that porn sight is not related to Violet's business, but it might freak out a school enough to discourage them from doing business with her. She could start a school fundraiser division with a tamer name, like just "Violet's Candles" or something. Noodle
I think that elementary school aged is much better. Young kids like to sell and jump right in to do it. Older kids shy away from this sort of thing unless they are in a group selling it. I think it is best to contact each school. Is it best to only sell tins for fundraisers? or do you wrap each glass container in bubble wrap and tape it shut?
Noodle
I didn't think that kids would actually be carrying around candles. I assumed that they would have a brochure or a pictured list. Here, kids never carry product unless it happens to be candy bars. The parents are the ones who distribute the products when they are delivered and there is one mass pick up at school. I don't know how other regions do this though.
