sisterkaren
I am a newbie votive maker and have been doing searches on how to use wick pins better. I just finally learned why I was having so many problems. The first wick pins I used were CRAPPY. Who knew (me that's who). I got my order from Peaks yesterday, got the wick pins out and boy, what a difference. Theirs are nice and heavy and cover the bottom of the mold. I can't tell you how many times I cut my hands and fingers on the others. And when I took them out the votive they actually come out. The others are going into the garbage. Lesson to all newbie votive makers like me, you have to buy tester wick pins like you do oils.
candlesprite7
Definitely a good lesson! Buy Quality materials....Sorry you had to learn it with cuts...I still cut myself from time to time on candle molds...and I've been playing for over 15 years...lol
Scented
I've never seen anything you described before buying from Peaks for votives. Now I saw them for pillars and blew my money on them. The bases popped off on the flimsy stuff after the first use. Peaks don't do that.

CareBear
question: which are better - the pins that are flat on the bottom or those that are slightly concave?
sisterkaren
The wick pins from Peaks seem to be slightly concave and they pop right off
