LisaW
Ok, so I got a little impatient with a hurricane that wouldn't come out of the mold. I used a butter knife to try to pry the edges away so it would release. I've got some scratches on the inside. I'm thinking it's ruined, right? ladysj
I do believe those scratches are going to come through on the shell sorry. I had a mold that I made a little indention with when tapping it and it does show in the finished candle.
sharyl55
How deep down into the mold are the scratches? You could make another 'cane and see what you get.
LisaW
I think I'm going to try that. The scratches are along the top. I was also using 1/4 teaspoon poly gloss per pound as per instructions from BCN. I was getting a lot of bubbles in the wax before I poured it. I'm wondering if that was also causing it to stick in the mold. I've got some UA and I may just go back to that.
Donita
What type of wax are you using? My hurricanes come out easily and I use only micro 180. 1/2 oz per pound. Your mold is probably ruined for a smooth hurricane, but for my sea shell hurricanes that get the heat gun treatment, it doesn't matter. Don't throw our your mold yet. If I have a candle that won't release, I put it in the refrigerator, upside down, for about 5 minutes and keep checking every 5 minutes so I don't crack the wax. LisaW
I'm using IGI 1260. Nothing stuck in it anymore. I used the heatgun and just melted it out. I'll try another one next week. First craft show Saturday so I'm hoping to do well and hoping to have to make a LOT of candles next week!
