ladysj
Is there anyway to speed up the curing process of soap besides rebatching? I made a cocoa butter soap using a 40% water discount and just wondered it if would cure quicker with that amount of a discount.I also learned my lesson about soaping hot I thought my lye water had set long enough and I didn't check them temp(I know dumb me) well it traced really quick. CareBear
Well, if by cure you mean lose excess water and get harder faster you might try keeping a fan blowing on it, or putting it somewhere with a dehumidifier. If you meant "mellow" faster I would think a warmer room might help a tiny bit but you run the risk of sweating and all then...You say 40% discount but that doesn't tell me what the lye concentration is. ladysj
I did mean dry quicker. I superfatted at 8% is that what you need? I had a customer order 3 bars which I thought I had but only had 2 so I had to make another batch this time using the 48% cocoa butter recipe. I can't wait to try this bar
mystical_angel1219
I would suggest telling this customer you made a fresh batch, and giving the bars a "do not use until XXX" date. Drying the soap is one thing, but a full cure can not be hastened, IMO. Speeding anything with soap besides trace/gel is a myth, as far as I see it. LMAO! Especially with cure time. CareBear
I agree pretty much with MA. But what I was talking about was the lye concentration. As in how much lye went into how much water. The superfat doesn't tell me squat about that!
mystical_angel1219
^^^^^^^^^^^^Carebear, I want to work where you do.Seriously. If I had this much time to play on the internet, I'd consider myself so far behind on my work, I'd be fired. LMAO! We have such strict policies on web surfing, I don't even think about it. Except on my phone. HA.

ladysj
I am going to let her know these are new bars of soap and to let them continue to dry and how long she needs to let them cure. I believe she was buying 3 of them for Xmas gifts so they should be fine.
