Nope. You're never safe to assume anything ;) You know the old saying. If the jar is bigger around, you'll need to wick up accordingly. Bigger jars need bigger wicks.

The bigger jars are deeper. So the wicks that worked in the shorter jar MAY not work in the deeper jar. You do have a good starting point though. Start with what works in the shorter jar and make sure you test that deeper jar ALL the way to the bottom.

Oh, yeah, if your jar is the same diameter, you might be ok. I for some reason, made my own assumption :) that your 8 ouncers were smaller around than your 16 ouncers. My bad.
