AAngels
Do essential oils work well for soy candles and if soy how many drops per pound?
Sally
I use 0.5/0.6 oz per # wax & cure for longer than with F.O's.You'll need to test like with F.o's & you'll find some work better than others...like F.O's, so remember to keep good notes.Remember to let us know how you get on please.Sally. RobinInOR
And just so you know the conversion, Sally's .5 oz per # of wax is about equal to 320 drops
gingerinarkansas
Does the EO scent as strong as FO? I would love to make candles using EOs. Ginger
Sally
Does the EO scent as strong as FO? I would love to make candles using EOs. GingerI've not actually compared say a patchouli E.O candle with a patchouli F.O candle but the last patch. one I made with E.O knocked my socks off.I've made others using different E.O's which haven't been as strong but then those particular E.O's aren't as pungent as patch. So I'd say if the E.O is lighter the candle will have a lighter throw, pretty much the same as I've found with F.O's.Robin, thanks for the drops amount, when I started using E.O's in my soy I was counting drops.........& always losing count so weighing is so much easier for me now.Sally. AAngels
Well I made 3 testers with lavender essential oils. I used 2 tsps. to 1 lb. of soy wax and so far the smell is good, but will have to burn to see how the scent throw is.
CareBear
if it's any help, 1 tsp is ABOUT 5 mls which is ABOUT 5 grams (depends on your material).
Crafty1_AJ
Not to throw a monkeywrench here, but I think a lot of eo's, when burning, smell kinda funky. Like Coleman lantern fuel. I prefer eo's in tarts, but some are pretty good in soy candles.
