Countrycandlemaker Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi Everyone,This probably sounds so silly but if I want to use my bundt cake pans here at home to save on the expense of a mold. How do I put the wicks in. As is stands if I use the glue dots to the bottom holding the wicks the cake will look upside down when it comes out right? What should I do? I want to start making cake candles. Does anyone have any crafty ideas? Help I need some direction.E'dee Johnson Quote
chrisasst Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 you could use a drill to make the wick holes or if you had some kind of skewer you could insert right before the wax got completly hard.. Quote

leisa2003 Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Hmmm, I dont see why it wouldnt work if the center is the kind where the hole would be..if its small enough, maybe could be used for an electric candle. Quote
DebbieTX Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 What kind of bundt pans and what size? I have used the coated ones and they work great but eventually the FO starts to eat through the coated finish and it will show on the candle. But...you can just pour wax icing over that spot! I now use a silicone one that I bought at Wal-Mart. Works great if I can get that little ring thingy to stay on the top to keep it open! HA!Haven't tried the expensive iron ones though. I have ruined so many kitchen items making candles..but it forces me to buy new ones that I always promise to not use for candles! I bought a really long drill bit from Lowe's to drill my holes afterwards. I found that with the skewers that sometimes I cracked the candle or it chipped too much. But...you could cover that mistake with icing also. Not the cracks but the chipping. Have fun! Quote
suzanneg Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Country,I bought a mini bundt pan with 8 minibundt cavities. My hubby drilled a hole thru the center of them! I used that putty to plug the hole and had no problem with them. I could make 8 at a time! it was wonderful and it was teflon coated too!Suzanne Quote
