Sonja-Lasagne Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 We have hexagon shaped jars that we pour our candles into and latley they have been makeing a frost look after they have sat for a few days. Like frost you would see on a window. I think some people call it snowflakes? What is causeing this? We use 100% all natural soy wax. It really makes the candle in the jar not look nice. HELP! Stella1952 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Sonja, I think if you search the forums for frost in soy wax, you will quickly find that this is one of the properties of soy wax. Some people like it and some people don't. Many additives claim to help reduce the frosting of soy wax. It's the same process as the frosting (aka bloom) on chocolate and happens for the same basic reasons. HTH Quote
Candybee Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 True. You will find lots of info on frosting in soy candles if you do a search. It is an issue you have to deal with if you are going to make soy candles. Some folks add 3-5 % beeswax to harden their candles, reduce frosting, and make more level tops. I have tried the beeswax and it helps. Temperature changes also affect soy. Best to read as much as you can. Lots of info here on CT. Quote
