Wick'n'Wax Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 HiyaI'm trying a container version of my Charity Candle for Pathfinder Guide Dogs.I've got an empty dog food tin (don't worry, its well cleaned ) and I've poured uncoloured cb135 into this. I poured at 130. It's taking ages to set up.I want to embed two paraffin dog bones into the top, so they are half protruding, problem is, when do I know when its ready for this?Don't want it to be too early that they just sink, but too late that I can't get them in without making a terrible mess. What do I look for? suzanneg Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 When I made my cookies & milk candles, I would wait til the wax on top had an opaque look to it...... not too solid but not too liquidy, kindy squishy looking, that way when you put the embeds in, it won't sink or be to messy. but when I added my cookie embeds I crammed it in, so the wax would looked like it spilled over and on the sides! The melted wax underneath just oozed out! HTH Quote
Wick'n'Wax Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 ooh cookies and milk, sounds lovely.I did it, but had to make a little hole and force them in, did a tiny repour over the top. Looks ok, although hubby reckons the whole thing, looks cheap and tacky.So........ its either throw it at him, or back to the drawing board lol Quote

You can do it! Tell hubby if he thinks he can do it better ......let him try it! My hubby Jeff is so critical and that is what I tell him! and he shuts up and leaves me alone!!!!!!!!!! Quote
