TexasBrat
I just made a 2# batch of cp and poured into my 9bar Kelsei mold and it only filled it up to about half way and when I make cphp it fills to the brim with plenty extra for soap balls. Why the difference? I only added 2oz's less of water but surely that can't make that much of a difference?
sudsnwicks
Does your CPHP shrink a lot in size after it's cured?
TexasBrat
Does your CPHP shrink a lot in size after it's cured? No not very much at all.
sudsnwicks
Maybe the CP bars are denser then?
TexasBrat
Could be. Maybe E will come around and see this, I know she makes both types of soap so maybe she will know.
CareBear
I CP, and 2# of oils is perfect for my 9 bar kelsei slab mold. The bars end up almost 1.25" thick. I usually do a 30-33% lye sol'n.Are you sure it isnt' your imagination?
thecandlespastore
Maybe cphp has more bubbles which makes it take up more space.....:undecided
jes432
I'd suggest that it is something to do with the air bubbles or type of mixing done when you HP that is getting more air in. I get the same size in CP & HP with the same recipes/lbs.
eugenia
2 lbs. of oils should yield the same amount of soap with either process. The water amount would have an effect, but only slight. I'm baffled here.e

I'm baffled here. That is what I thought too. Once it is un-molded I'll put it side by side with a bar of cphp.
sudsnwicks
2 lbs. of oils should yield the same amount of soap with either process.By same amount, you're referring to weight or volume? Because I expect the end result will weigh the same as her HP'd soap but the latter might have a larger volume if the mixture were less dense e.g. if there were more air bubbles in it. After cure, they should be equal.
