bac
Was struggling with this for a few days...didn't have any of the additives posted like c15 or something...so I added stearic and universal additive and it worked..thought I'd share!! BTW-I was using 1343--guess I must've gotten a bad slab since this is the first time dealing with this.Bianela
Scented
Really? UA worked for you?
bac
Yes ....it's one of the additives i had so i figured it couldn't hurt.
SatinDucky
I get the fingernailing sometimes. Usually in the humidity of summer. The wax slab makes no difference for me. Some will have it, some wont, all from the same pot of wax. It's hit or miss. I've never found any additives that would get rid of it, nor any method (ie. pouring temp change, tapping, heating to 200 first, etc). Consider yourself lucky
Scented
Maybe it works better with some added steric to the mix. I pitched all mine or sent it somewhere, because every time I used it I got fingernailing. How much did you end up using?
bac
Originally I added 1tsp of stearic and 1 tsp of ua...(per pound) after the fingernailing, I added another tsp of both...
topofmurrayhill
The recommended usage rate for UA is at least 2 tsp pp. If you use less you can sometimes get some mottle or fingernails.
