Smokin'Hot
So I have been trying to make this small oval forever candle about 1# of 1260 wax - no additives just color. I pour at 195 to 200 degrees into a heated mold and when I pull the candle it has pin holes all over it! What the heck am I doing wrong? Any advise would be great! Thanks everyone! AnjieBurdett
Are you tapping the mould to get air bubbles out?
SatinDucky
Pin holes and air bubbles have little to do with each other. Usually pin holes are from the wax and/or mold being too hot. For me anyway...
Georgia
Are you heating the mold before pouring? I use 1260 and get pits if I don't get the mold warm enough first.Definately tap - a lot - and try warming the mold more first and you should get a smooth surface. Smokin'Hot
Thanks everyone! I'll try all of your suggestions - i believe I may have overheated my mold! Thanks again!
tammyc
I had been having a problem with pin holes. I tried hitting the mold with a heat gun after pouring. I can actually see the bubbles releasing from sides and floating to the top. Since I have started doing this, no more pin holes. Maybe this will work for you.
