Wax and wicks

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'm new to candle making. Things are going good except one thing. When the candle burns down to about half, the wax puts out the wick and it has to be dug out and relit. It happens to ones in a jar and pillars, it does not matter. Thanks for any help or advice.

One possibility is that your wick is too small. If there's a lot of hangup (unmelted wax) all around the sides of the jar, or if the pillar has a thick shell and the wick is burning down the center, you might want to try a larger wick size. A lot of fragrance oil can also contribute to this.

However, if you want to get the best advice you should post all the details about your candle. What's in it and how you make it.
