Full Moons Couldron (in the UK) for candle supplies??

I've been comparing wax prices from suppliers in the UK and these have come up the cheapest. I can get 20kg of beaded unblended paraffin for £33.44!! Thats £41.29 delivered! I thought that was a bargain, more than a tenner cheaper than I usually pay. I just wondered if anyone had used their wax and could vouch for the quality?

Can anyone also recommend and good line in wicks, i've got the LX's but wanted to try a different series that's good for parrafin pillars and containers. Ones that are available in the uk preferably. Full Moons Couldron do a multi purpose wick i might try out - not sure though.

I got my first soy wax from Full moon's, they are pricey IMHO & I now use Ecosoya waxes, don't know about their PW tho.

I also tried their multi purpose wicks as they are unbleached & I was keen to produce as natural candles as possible.....in my naivete.

I've found the Eco's & LX's work better than the multipurpose wicks but that is in soy.

Also bought some of their shiney seamed tins.....some leaked along the seal & others have rusted with time, so all in all I'd say try to find other suppliers.

Have you looked into British Wax prices ?

hi anjie' date=' have you tried craftwise?

5kg is £10.99 (its free postage over 15) so if ordering more it'll be free. I think it may be cheaper for 20kg. 48hour delivery too.

I was very pleased and would like to recommend them :)[/quote']

Hi, Glad you're pleased with craft wise!!! I wasn't sure who you meant at first then i remembered hobbicraft changed their name to craft wise (maybe too much confusion on the big brand store hobby craft!! LOL!!!)

Oh and has anyone had any luck with british wax? They don't list any prices on their web site so i didn't bother looking any further as i thought it might just be for big business, wholesale and what not!!!

Anyone tried them?

Thanks

I decided not to order from British Wax because I would had to have ordered the slabs of wax to get it a few £ cheaper than the same amount of beaded wax from Full Moons, so i'll go with Full Moons and pay a tad extra for the convenience of the pelleted wax - hope that made sense LOL.

For 25kg of slab paraffin wax (58-60C) it worked out £1.59 a kilo, plus VAT plus £7.70 postage. And for the same amount of beaded it was £1.69 a kilo when buying 25kg plus VAT and postage.

Container paraffin wax is £2.35 a kilo if buying 25kg and £3.05 a kilo if buying 10kg. Plus the dreaded and postage.

They do soya wax too but there's too many listings to type on here, I tried posting the whole list but it messed up!

Hi, Thanks for the info. Think i'll stick to craft wise wax then, that works out as £1.80 per kilo if you buy it in the 25kg pack, and they have free postage on that. They also offer a 10% discount if you order over £100, so two 25kg packs and a few bits and bobs and you get 10% off too, so works out then as £1.60 kilo. They only do beaded wax.

What is their wax like though? I don't want to sound like a snob here, because I don't mean to, because i'm not LOL! Far from it! BUT... I stopped buying wax from Hobbycraft because its a craft store, and we all know that the majority of things from craft stores are not of great quality. OK for hobbyists but I want to eventually get into this as a business (SHE SAYS!!!) and want a supplier of a quality wax as cheap as possible. I've been told to buy from 'specialist' candle suppliers to get the best. If you know what I mean :embarasse

To be honest i'm not really sure how good it is!!!

I like it, i tried several different waxes from places in the UK and tested them for colour, scent and how well they burned - also how nice the wax was to use. Craft wise wax was my favourite for everything but scent, but only slightly lower than candelicious. As theirs has suddenly gone up, i reckon it's cheaper just to add a little extra scent!!!

I find it also gives a smoother, neater candle, so not so good for mottles, but great for other pillar candles! I recommend you at least try them.

I'm not really sure how people test how good a wax is really, there's soooo many different types in the USA, no idea how they choose them.

Any ideas on how people test how good waxes are?
