broadzilla
I took the lavendar balls and put them in the molds. They look horrible! But here are the balls, this is suppose to be neon colored, they look pastel to me...
broadzilla
Okayyyyyyyyyyyyy....now this is embarrassing....I think I'll refrain from posting the molds/ *lmao*So Demenshia, you do it different then. Do you scent your rock salt and that's it? Does your scent last when you make it??
ladysj
Those look pretty cool. You might try flattening them a little to look more like rocks JMO lol. Where did you get the pastel colors?
morningstar
they look like mine. I was thinking I would do about 4 batches and scent each one with a different fruit scent then mix them together and find a name for it. What do you think? broadzilla
They are food coloring from McCormicks, probably out due to Easter coming up. Ahhhh....flatten the rocks....*lmao* I knew I would blow this. Do I dare put up the other pic of the molds??? If someone really wants to laugh their butt off, I'll post it.:embarasse
broadzilla
Sounds good to me, but I know nothing about these scents and what they would smell like with each other. But real fruit smells great together, so give it a shot. *L* I'll try some more today and this time flatten them. These are easy to make and didn't make me feel stupid, well...til I showed a pic of them.
broadzilla
Ok, you know what? I'm gonna post this cause I'd like to know what this mold is suppose to be for. *lol* Is this for candy or for soap? Its flexible plastic, I got it on sale on Walmart for .50 It has 2 pieces, and last night I took the lavendar colored balls and smooshed them into these and today took one half off and they were still wet. I know they look horrible, but I have no clue what I'm doing.:embarasse Does it matter if these molds are for candy or soap when I do stuff like this? morningstar
I think those are real cute, come to think of it I have small dolphin molds they are for ice cubes , but I think I'll try them with my next batch. I don't think it matters what the mold is for if it works thats all that matters
broadzilla
They'd look better if I cleaned them up some I guess. *lol* If you do the dolphins, show a pic so I can see. I still cannot BELIEVE I posted these!:embarasse *lol*
ladysj
Those are too cute. I would think maybe not filling them up so full or trying to get them flat/even on the top. It doesn't really matter what they were originally intended to be used for as long as they work for what you want to use them for.
broadzilla
Ok, when these dry, I'll try flattening them inside and see how that goes. And I'll flatten the next set of rocks. I don't even know anyone with babies, I just saw these molds for .50 and picked them up. I also got a rectangular one for the same price. It was on one of their sale shelfs. Thanks ladysj
Candle Man
The recipe you posted is the same as salt clay ornaments except yours has FO in it.I googled scented playdough recipes and came up with many different recipes. Some you cook some you don't. Maybe one of those recipes would work better, who knows.I wish I knew of a ceramist (a person who makes ceramics) that lived close by. I would make clay marbles and have them fired, that way you could add FO to the porous clay balls.
morningstar
I just made some apple scented rocks, and some strawberry ones, did the apple in green and the strawberry in red. Once they are all dry i'm going to mix them together and put them in small bags and give them to family and friends to test them

Maybe....do you have a college near you? If so then maybe they can do it and get some class credit for it?morningstar...what kind of bags are you gonna put them in? Is this too heavy for those little organza bags?Ok, I think my little molds are dry enough to pull out of there. I'm gonna start this all over and try flattening instead like ladysj said to.. I just don't have anything to put them in to hand out for testers to try. I'll have to get something.
doris
Dough ornaments can get mouldy in damp environments, I hope you're not expecting these things to last very long? I can just envision a pile of mouldy crumbled dough in someone's drawer.
broadzilla
I figured they'd last just a few days?? I wasn't really sure. *L* I just wanted to see what they'd smell like in a dish on the counter. I didn't think about putting them in a drawer. I don't need moldy underthings! *lol*Thanks!
morningstar
some one told me as long as they are real dry they shouldn't mold. And I think they would last longer then a few days. Theres a websit that sells them, well have to look for it so you can see them. Right now I'll put them in plastic bags.
morningstar
broadzilla the website is Rachels Potpourre the only thing they do different is they dip the balls in the scent after they roll them. Take alook
broadzilla
Wow...wouldn't be using a lot of scent? Anyways, I went and looked...feel really stupid asking this...but where exactly did you see the rocks? I saw the cinnamon bun things and the wax dipped hearts...but no rocks.
morningstar
the cinnamon buns are made out of water flower and salt, they just roll them a lot more fancy then we did

candlesprite7
Did you see these?? This is on a different site.http://www.scentedrocks.com/products1.htmThose look cool. Though I would be afraid if I put them on a coffee table, one of the kids would think they are candy and try to eat them...lol
broadzilla
They sure are prettier than the garbage I made.:embarasse I'll have to research and see where they get just the rocks. I don't have small kids anymore, I have grandkids, but I can put it up when they come over.
