Busy Bee
I had my wick and wax mix down to a science, and not realizing how much of a difference a new wax would make, And Needing to replenish stock, and having fun making candles, I made about 20 jars. Now testing a retesting, I see that my old wicks (rrd55) don't work with my new wax (ecosoy advanced CB).I have heard you cannot reuse a glass jar because of stress. I was wanting to melt them down and rewick. Can I reuse these jars or am I in serious trouble??
CathyinME
I reuse my tester jars. Just keep them where you can see them. In over 7 years I've never had a problem using them more than once.
hometowncandles
I also reuse my tester jars, but not jars to be sold. Jennifer
Luci
I always re-use my tester jars. Some have been used over and over without a problem. I keep a close eye on them and would never sell one made from a used jar.
IndyGirl
I always reuse jars.........I use any jar I can get my hands on! Pickle, mayo....no nice thick jar is safe from me! I just don't sell them!
Jane42
Have you burned candles in the jars you are want to reuse, or did you just pour them, then realize that they needed a different wick?
David Fields
Don't sweat it. Reuse the jars - even for resale. Our glass mfg says that stress cracks occur over long periods of time. Long periods. We had a similar question long ago. They said don't give it a second thought.
Busy Bee
Thank you so much for the help! I did burn them and the rrd 55 leaves about 1/2 lip and burns out.
jillgunter
If you havent burned the candles yet, you should be fine to melt them in the oven and scoop it out. Yep new wax=frustration!
