Lin Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 can someone tell me how to make the color of a pina colada in a gel candle. Not sure how to get it white looking with that tint of yellow. Thanks Lin Quote
Vicky_CO Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 What I do is as add a little bit a regular wax to the gel to give it that milky look. Quote
Candle Man Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Which type & how much do you mix with gel, votive/pillar or container? Does it matter and is either better than the other? Quote
Vicky_CO Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I prefer container wax as it will have closer to the same burn qualities as gel. I uaually use around 5% but I have used as little as 1% depending on how cloudy(milky) I want the gel to look. Also make sure your candle is totally cool like the next day to determine if you need to go up or down in you contianer wax usage as the gel will keep regular wax in a liquid form a lot longer. Quote
Lin Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks so much Vickey and do i add a little yellow color to make it look like it has pineapple in it? Lin Quote
Vicky_CO Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Sorry Lin I was not clear but yes I add a little Yellow die to get the ezact color I want. Quote
Mtngrl Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 I have absolutely no idea if what I'm about to suggest would work for wax as it does in printing photos ... if you're trying to neutralize the yellow to make it look white, you could add a touch of blue. I'm thinking either a cyan blue or sky color would work better than say a navy or "country" blue. HTH Quote
Vicky_CO Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 That might work after you aready have the milky effect I do know it hard to keep from getting them too yellow. But gel no matter what unless you get it to cloud with another wax will always just be clearno matter what color you use. Quote
beverly Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I do the same, add a little container wax to the gel, it makes it look great! I have also added white pigment, then yellow color, that works well too.Bev Quote
Waleed Mubashir Posted January 10 Posted January 10 To achieve the white with a hint of yellow color for a pina colada gel candle, start with clear gel wax as your base and add a small amount of white wax dye for the white effect. Then, carefully blend in a tiny amount of yellow gel wax dye to create that subtle yellow tint, as a little goes a long way. Once you've mixed the colors to your liking, pour the gel wax into your mold and let it set.
