islandgirl Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Have any of you ever gotten floaters in your oil that look like this?I put the oil in my wax and it looked like fish food floating!!!*faint* The crystals are slowing dissolving in the wax, but I have never had the crystal this bad..Shook my bottle up and all.. Not dissolving completely?? Room temp is at 70, so it is not to cold??? Just had to share... Quote
CareBear Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I know vanillas crystallize pretty easily - but ask the vendor. Quote
Scented Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Stick your bottle in warm water ... see what dissolves. Quote
Steph in tx Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Does it have Vanilla in it? What scent might it be??? Can't say I've ever seen this before. Quote
islandgirl Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 No vanilla.. This is Campfire Smoke. Those suckers did not disolve at 180 in oil.. I am putting my bottles in warm water now to see what happens.. Thanks Girls.. Quote
Sara Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I had this happen a looong time ago. Did not dissolve and they were NOT crystals. I believe it was sediment of some kind. The supplier replaced them but I don't recall them commented on what they were. Quote
Sara Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 OK. I looked back to the thread dealing with it and looks like it was probably bottom-of-the-barrel sediment. I was using the oils for B&B and did not feel comfortable using them with that flaky stuff floating around in there. I haven't seen that before OR after, though.Hope that helps. Quote
msonmez Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I have a bottle of some vanilla kind of fragrance that has some crystals in the bottom. I tried to sit it in warm water, nothing happened. Should it be hot hot water? Quote
Scented Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Well I wouldn't say hot, hot ... but it should sit long enough that the water doesn't go cold in like 5-10 minutes or so. Yes, and there's always the dreaded sediment in the bottle ... but that's why if anything melted if you put it in warm water it wouldn't be sediment. Otherwise, if it is, I'd contact the supplier. Quote
islandgirl Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 It didn't melt in the warm water.. These are not crystals...Still looks like fish food.. it even sticks to the side of the bottle !!! :undecided Never seen anything like this before!! I think your right Sarah.. IT's SLUGE! LOL Quote
Scented Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Eeeeewwww well make the supplier replace it! Quote
Sara Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Yeah I had to go through the heat stuff and then Alan suggested freezing it, too. There was nothing else it could have been. Quote
Steph in tx Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I would contact the supplier and see if they will replace it for you, since it's not crystals. Sounds like the last of the barrel got in there? HTH Quote
islandgirl Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 Well girls... Thanks for all your insight on the sludge..I think a critter may have fell in that barrel and I got the remains!! LMAO. I will give the supplier a call.. Quote
Scented Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Would explain where the mouse that lived here once went, except I am not a supplier and I rarely sell stuff. Quote
