jamie Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Cutting my wax is so hard, escpecially since it's cold now. Do they make a knife that heats up to slice through the wax easier ? I'd love to find one.Jamie Quote
Grumpy Girl Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Depends on what wax you're using, but Lone Star has one for around $50 I think. Quote
darlascandles Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 It's not a quick process to cut wax that way....takes way too long imo. Quote
Candle Man Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I have never used a heated knife but here is a site that has one that heats to 350*F and only costs $25.00 + shipping. http://www.solutions.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&itemID=6095&keyword=69500 Quote
darlascandles Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Here is the one I have.......heats to over 400, and it DOES work....it's just not as fast as I expected.........for even SMALLER cuts other than a slab.http://www.spiritcrafts.net/crafhotknif1.html Quote
Scented Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I haven't used one either. I really do find by poking holes in my slabs with an ice pick that it creates fractures that will break on their own. I imagine there are a few businesses that carry them. Pretty sure I saw one on candlewic's site ... www.candlewic.com Quote
Kaybee23 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I just do the 'ole drop on the garage floor thing, works well for me. Quote
cbarber03 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I bought one too and was not impressed. It's so much quicker (and more fund) to just beat the crap out the slab of wax to break it up! With the one I got, I sat there for quite a while with it and it only made a little dent. I don't know if I was using it wrong or what, but it is the kind that supposed to be able to cut pillars, but I'm sure it wouldn't do that either! Quote
DonnaP Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I've never worked with wax yet only gel...but I would think that cutting a slab of wax up should be very simple. I'd try using a small hobby table saw or a scroll saw. I would think they would cut up the wax in a heart beat. Has anyone ever tried that ???Bill Jacksonville Fla Quote
darlascandles Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Seems that would make more noise, and make a bigger mess than anything, but it might work. Personally, a giant drop cloth, a concrete floor, a hammer and chisel work great for me....but thats just my way. Quote
