Hello

Hope all is good with everyone. I have started making votives with a one pour wax however I can not get my wax amounts to come out. They are 2 oz votives how much wax should it take.

2 x 12 = 24oz If one pound of hard wax is = to 20oz should it not take 1lb & 4oz.

Am I doing something wrong because it is not enough. Help!

Thank

Jamie

For me, one pound makes 8-2 oz votives, so I use 1 1/2 pounds to make a dozen. Has worked for years with different waxes.

Hi, yep you're doing something wrong. :)

1 lb of solid wax = 16oz., not 20oz.

But, 1lb of solid wax does is 20 fluid oz.

I use a calculation of 1.25 x amt. of wax needed. So for 12, 2oz votives, I'd melt 30oz (24 * 1.25). It works for me, not sure if there's a better way.

Oops, I'm mistaken, 24oz would be accurate (no wonder I always have leftover wax :embarasse ). The 24oz would = 30 fluid oz. Sorry for the confusion.

Do NOT use fluid ounces. Use Weight on a scale. The ounces you see referred to are all WEIGHT.
