elitenaildesign Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Since I did my little poll on "bubbly or creamy" soaps, many of you mentioned using goats milk, which I had heard of before, but never thought of using. My question is, where the heck do you get it? I dont know anyone with goats. Can it be bought in the grocery store? Quote
Scent Cellar Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Yes, look for it in the canned milk section of your store. The brand name is Meyerberg and is condensed so you add a can of water to it to reconstitute it. I get fresh goatsmilk from a farmer that lives near us but did use the canned one time. Quote
Papa Bear Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 You can also get it in most grocery stores with the milk in cold storage. Or you can buy powdered and use that. Do a search and you will find places to get powdered milks. Quote
ladysj Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I've found the canned at Wal-Mart, Krogers and I believe Wild Oats carries it. Quote
funnygirl Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I picked up the Meyenberg evaporated last night at Wal-Mart, in the baking isle by the other canned milks. Now, I want a good recipe to try it out with! LOL!This is what I have on hand.CanolaCriscoCastorOliveCoconutAny suggestions? Quote

How about a castile soap:90% OO10% castorI would see if you can get some lard from the store. Lard will help make a hard bar like the CO. OO eventually makes a hard bar, but needs a long cure time. Crafty1_AJ Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Yup, the Meyenberg cans are white with green and purple lettering. Very easy to use. Just chill and make your soap using half water, half this stuff. It's concentrated, so by using half the normal amount of water for your lye, then adding an equal amount of chilled gm concentrate at trace, you've made a full GM soap. Easy peasy! I've posted more specific directions here in other threads if you want to do a search. Happy GM soaping! Milk soaps rock! Quote
