HeavenScentU Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Ok, here it goes.. I just got a call from a huge brewing company to make beer candles for them. They are going to supply the mugs because they have their own specially designed logos on them. The mugs will be shipped to me and I just have to fill them with the scents that I will create for them to match their beer flavors. They are wanting 144 candles to start with and will order as needed. My question is since they are ordering that many candles would you give a wholesale discount per case or not??? TIA Quote
Trish Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Sounds like a wholesale account to me. Good luck! 12 cases to start is awesome! Quote
CC on Maui Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I would be offering them my wholesale pricing only. 144 candles wouldn't qualify for a wholesale discount (in my business). Considering they are a huge brewing company, I doubt they will ask for one either. If they do, I'd simply say that their order size doesn't qualify for any discount on your wholesale price. In the meanwhile, you may want to think about whether you want to offer a discount and at what $ level. FYI, my wholesale candles accounts have never asked for a wholesale discount -- and their orders are typically in amounts over $5K each time. Congrats! Sounds like a fun account! Quote
Accents Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Since they're providing the mugs, I'm not sure typical wholesale rates would apply. Your time in mixing custom scents and testing in a new container is worth something too. I'd consider charging at least 3X cost since you won't be making anything based on the container price.Whatever you decide, congratulations! Quote

You must really be doing incredible!!I don't wholesale my jars yet, but would be thrilled if an account ordered 12 cases. My minimums are only $100 and that would be roughly 1-2 cases of my jars. HeavenScentU Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 Thanks for all your input! I haven't received an order like that before, so I guess I am just so excited that I can't think straight. Most of my orders are 3-4 cases at a time typically. This company doesn't want the order until May so I have plenty of time to work with their beer glasses. The price of gel is outrageous I hadn't purchased any for over a year and didn't realize the cost has gone up considerably. Since the brewing company hasn't asked for a discount I won't offer one. He just wanted someone close and happened to find me through a club that I belong to. He is saving lots of money because his logo and glasses are made less than 10 mins. away from me, so no shipping on his part they will deliver to my home and a local brewing company will pick them up when I am finished and deliver them to the brewing company. I will post a pic. when I get one made, they are real cute logos. Hopefully I will make a great smelling beer candle with a great lookin' head on it... Quote
