dirtybirdsoaps Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 My father just started something like chemo and is making him very fatigued plus VERY sore. My goal is to find something great to make to help aid him with this and figured a good bath salt would be good so he could soak I thought about massage oils but I know it would be a waste because he wouldn't use it. Thanks! Quote
ladysj Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Epsom salt is a wonderful salt for sore achey muscles, sprains etc. Doctors have you soak in them. You could just scent and color some epsom salts and if you wanted add some baking soda. Wahlah achey muscles bath salts. Simple and stuff that is easy to find. If you can find dead salts that is also good for the achey muscles. HTHETA: I think I would avoid the use of EO's because of the treatments or check with his doctor before using them. Quote
dirtybirdsoaps Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Thank you for the reply. I've made bath salts with epsom before I just didn't know if there was any others that had the same if not better effect theres so many kinds I get lost I didn't know about the E.O. and I can't really talk to my fathers Dr. since he lives in MI. and I'm in FL. My dad doesn't know about this because I was going to make him a care package to send him for his birthday in late Jan. I appreciate your advice on the epsom though that's all I've been using Quote
CareBear Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Avoid fragranced products. In addition to potential medical issues (sensitivity of FOs, "activity" of EOs), it is extremely likely you will create an aversion to that fragrance going forward. I've read other threads on similar topics in other forums and there is general agreement that unfragranced is the best choice. Quote
maryann Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I would also give him a list of ingredients to give to his Dr just to verify that they wouldn't have a negative effect in conjunction w/ his treatments. My dad had to be so careful w/ products he used on his skin (but that was w/ chemo). GL to your dad and hope you can help alieve some of his fatigue and soreness. Quote
dirtybirdsoaps Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 Thanks so much for the advice, does anyone know if theres any other salts that might be stonger than epsom? Quote
