cjackson35 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I just made some tarts last night, and when i took them out of the molds, they were greasy. There was greasy stuff left in the bottom of the tart molds. Any ideas what i did wrong? I am wondering if its to much fo.:undecided Quote
debscent Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Sounds like FO, what type of wax did you use? Any additives? How much FO per lb.? Quote
cjackson35 Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 I use wax from hobby lobby, it just says parafin wax, low melting temp, low oil content. I use 1 oz fo to 1 lb wax. This is all using stuff from Hobby Lobby. I am inapatiently waiting on my order from bcs, should be here today. Quote
CareBear Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 CJ, did you mix well? Really well? I myself found that to be an issue. Seemed simple enough - melt, mix, pour = but still lots of room for error! Quote
Fern Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 You probably need to add some stearic or vybar to your wax. Straight paraffin alone won't hold much oil. Try adding about 3 tablespoons of stearic to 1 lb of wax or 1 - 1.5 teaspoons of vybar pp of wax...I bet that will solve your problem. Quote
