Sara
I know you are supposed to use a preservative with this, and most places mention Liquapar Optima. Can I sub that for Germaben II?
TexasBrat
I use Phenonip for my fbb since the recipe I found called for it. I think Germabin II would be fine as long as what you are doing is not heated up. At least that is how I understand things. Some preservatives are made to withstand heat and some are not. Check out the Chemistry store, they explain in more detail about the differences. http://www.chemistrystore.com/preservatives.htm#Germaben_II

slow-burn
Sara, I have used that when I needed too. I don't melt my FBB, and if you don't either, that would work. Generally I use the LO or Phenonip, but don't really need too, those are just what I have mostly on hand cuz of my lotions.
Sara
Thanks guys. I just want to play with it - nowhere near to selling or anything. Sounds like it should suffice and I can dig in!!
jazzbo848
sara,i believe that germaben is made to be usde in formulations that have water in them.liquapar and optiphen are preservatives that can be used in either anhydrous (no water) or products with water ( the name escapes me......i think my cats ran off with it..)hth,cheryl
