heirloomoriginals
When you look at Iodine and other qualities, do you look at individual or combined? Also, when you use shortening, which do you use, cottonseed or soybean. I bought Crisco, but it has both. Thanks,Stephanie
RobinInOR
Individual is for the single oil you've got selected in the middle. Use the combined for the full soap recipe.I'd use soybean, that's the majority oil. And soybean takes a little bit less lye than cottonseed. heirloomoriginals
Thanks ,Robin, for the quick reply. I am just making sure I cover all my bases before I start this. I have one jar of lye that I bought. I will have to check at the feedmill to see if they will still have it before i get too addicted to this soap making thing!Steph
