chrissieu
I'm having problem with scent marking on the surface of my pillar candles particularly with the darker colours. I am pouring a mix of parafin/palm wax which gives a lovely smooth surface, but is being spoilt by these streaks of scent marking them. Any suggestions please? Scented
Got a picture so we can see what you're talking about?
chrissieu
Actually I did yesterday, but I've since melted it back and poured it into votives!!!! They look kind of like grey streaks only at the top of the candles running down the sides about an inch or so.
Everito Bandito
It would seem that the wax you're using can't hold that much scent/color. If it's a straight paraffin you could try 1/2 teaspoon of vybar 103 per lb. to increase scent retention.
SheilaW
Sounds to me like it's your wax mixture making the streaks. When you mix palm with paraffin sometimes the palm will show up in odd ways.
Crafty1_AJ
Are you adding scent at the recommended temp? Are you putting any additives into the wax? Are you pouring at the recommended temp? Sometimes adding more scent than the wax can hold is the culprit, but you can also get wonky results if you don't add goodies at the temps recommended by the mfr. or pour at recommended temps. Just food for thought ...
chrissieu
I guess it's because the mix produces a very smooth candle finish with no room for blemish of any kind. I am adding the scent just before pouring so should be at the right temp.
