I am so proud of myself. Yesterday and today, I scanned all formulas and pour pages for every scent I have poured in the last 4 years, (161 formulas), burned it to CD and am putting it in safety box at my bank. Also did this for my label designs. If my BIG recipe book was stolen or (God Forbid), we had a fire in my production shop, I would loose all my formulas. Have been intending to do this years ago, and have finally gotten it done. I will sleep WELL tonight. Carole

It sounds like a major task but I wish I had done it when my compter bit the dust on me and everything was in it. 3 Years worth of work lost! I did not have a hard copy of recipes or notes. I now burn a cd once a month so I always have them plus print everything out when I formulate anything. . Always back things up. One of these days I am going to get an external hard drive to keep things on too as a back up.

Congrats on your accomplishment :yay: that's a great idea. Just wanted to let you know, CD's can start losing data after 5 yrs so you might want to recopy it to a new CD every couple of years to be on the safe side.

I think you've really given a lot of people here food for thought. As tedious, expensive, frustrating, and time-consuming as testing and development is, losing your records would be even worse. Those of us who have been through a disaster such as fire or flood can surely relate as well as those who read this and started thinking.

Yes!! I was one of those poor suckers too that lost everything. Last year my younger brother decided he was going to play some internet game on my computer and ended up putting a ton of viruses on it. Well, guess what? It completely wiped out my computer, everything in it gone. You can't imagine how po'd I was! To loose everything like that is horrible, not only recipes, formulas, labels, inventory info, plus my accounting program and everything in that. It took a lot of sleepless nights to get everything back in order again. Very good advice!

Yep, I could tell my computer was on its way to a crash so I backed up everything and then did a complete restore. I even did "my favorites" on AOL. Hope I remember to do it more often.
