Ok......I am having issues with the J50 and the wicking.

FYI: 16 oz mason jars with a 3 in rim, I usually use the CD 14's (heinz core) but everyone said to wick up with J50 and I did that with the CD 20's (also heinz core) . I tested and the wick mushroomed so I wicked down to my 14's. Those also mushroomed. I wicked down to the 51-32-18's which is a zinc core. Those are also mushrooming a little but they are all causing alot of soot. I am so used to my candles burning clean......I have always used the 14's and never had soot issues like this.....then again I have never used this wax b/4.....could it be the J50? Is this the way it burns? Any suggestions???

I use J50,and have no problem with it,I use the 16oz apoth and I use differant size wicks in them.It depends which fo I am using.I use zinc wicks.you just have to test and see which wick works.I use in the range of 44-24 to 51-32.When I get a new fo I make a wickless candle, when it harden,I make a hole, stick a wick in,if not right, jerk it out stick another one in,but I'm sure you know all that.
