deputy6512
I haven't made candles in several months, but I am thinking of whipping up a batch of Pink Sugar soon since I have lots of customers requesting that I do so. My question is this: I made a pink sugar sachet about a month ago, and it didn't hold scent long at all. The beads turned a brownish/pinkish color. Could this be from the fragrance being to old? The oil is from Peaks and I normally have wonderful results. I believe the oil is probably about 9 months old. Do you think I need new oil before I attempt the candles? Thanks in advance
Scented
No. I think it's the scent in general. Heavily based vanilla FOs don't tend to last that long IMO. It isn't that the oil is 9 months old, unless you left out in the elements all that time. I seriously think it's the heavy amount of vanilla. Someone once suggested a couple of drops of vanillin (the cooking spice) to help hold the scent, but if you add that to Pink Sugar, I think it would throw off the scent. I just wouldn't make the sachets in PS.
