EmpressC
Hi all,With the craft fair season ahead, I would really like to get into a few events. Even at this late date, I can still get into a couple in November. However, I am very new to candle-making. A part of me just wonders if I am moving too fast. I still have a lot of testing to do, so I want to ask others, based on their experience, when is a person ready for a craft fair?I keep wondering, what if I run out of products? What other considerations are there in these events?Am I worrying for nothing or what? Should a person be at a certain point before they exhibit at a craft fair? How much product is enough? How much is too much?A million questions... Any answers would be appreciated. Thanx.
Aspencreek
Honestly, it took me a good year and a half of testing and really knowing what to do before I was comfortable entering a show. If I where you I would just go to some shows this year and check them out and then get ready for next year.
gingerinarkansas
I've never done a craft show but don't sell anything until you're happy with your testing results and feel comfortable selling your products... Too risky to take chances. Ginger
Twoscentsworth
If you are new to candlemaking I advise you to wait until next season....the same people tend to go to craft shows and if they get a candle from you that is not satisfactory believe me EVERYONE will know it and they will not buy from you again, also if you do the show again next year when they pass by your spot they will tell EVERYONE they can NOT to buy your candles because they aren't any good. There are so many candlemakers out there now that you HAVE to have a GREAT product in order to compete. If you still have testing to do and you are even having to ask others what you should do, then you ARE NOT ready to sell...JMHO.
islandgirl
Have you gotten insurance for you products??? Don't forget to have your insurance in place before you start selling.
EmpressC
Thanx all, for the honest replies. I agree that if I am asking the question, I must already know the answer. I am just anxious and eager to participate. But I do not want to put out a crappy product, that's for sure! I will continue on with my learning and testing and when the time is right, I'll move forward.I guess I just needed some objective opinions.
