BIGCAT
What are the advantages of CD wicks over HTP wicks in a parasoy blend if any?
topofmurrayhill
Since the design is basically the same, there's no theoretical advantage of one over the other for parasoy. People have preferences though, so you could try and see which one burns better for you. Both are flat braided wicks with paper filaments that give them a hotter flame temp, which can be useful for applications that are harder to burn like soy, parasoy and certain paraffin container blends. They can be a little more resistant to clogging and mushrooming and they tend to curl a fair amount.HTP was invented by Atkins & Pierce, then Heinz came out with CD based on the same design. There's also a Heinz CDN wick for acidic vegetable waxes (probably not an issue for you).If you want to get equivalent sizes for the two types, go to Wicks Unlimited and compare the "yield" column in the tables.HTH.
